Texas Wedding Trends: Blending Elegance and Creativity

Uncategorized

While Western-chic has been a popular Texas wedding theme for some time, we’re now seeing Lone Star weddings veer off in a new direction.  Texas has its own distinct personality, so it’s no surprise that it also chooses its own path to follow.

This year, Texas brides are leaning toward more of a formal rather than casual theme for their wedding.  Many brides are choosing custom made gowns, often with lace overlays, for a beautiful and elegant look.  For the gentleman, we’re seeing boutonnieres replaced with proper pocket squares.  Having the right lighting to add ambiance to your ceremony and reception is equally important.  Venues with chandeliers or string lights add just the right romantic touch.  Finally, having formally decorated banquet-style tables with crisp linens, table runners, and floral displays complete the look.

Color themes, on the other hand, have migrated from more conservative pale blush tones throughout to adding in pops of bright color, jewel tones, or metallics like pewter or copper.  One particularly interesting color palette for 2016 is combining yellow and gray, which can be a wonderful choice for a Texas wedding, as you can incorporate the iconic yellow rose of Texas.

While we’re on the topic of flowers, florists in Texas are encouraging brides to think ”outside the vase” and choose skilfully arranged displays. Floral arches are a beautiful, grandiose addition to your wedding ceremony.   There’s also been a trend away from tight bouquet shapes to looser, more “picked from the garden”, flowing shapes.

Personalization is a growing trend in the wedding industry, and Texas embraces this , as well. In addition to signature cocktails for the bride and groom, we’re seeing items such as monogrammed champagne buckets and “Mr.” and “Mrs.” pillows and chair covers at receptions.  Couples also are putting their own touch on the traditional paper guest book and venturing into creative options such as having guests sign wine corks for the couple to display for years to come.

If you’re looking for Texas-themed wedding favors for your guests, some fun ideas are Texas-state shaped leather keychains, custom-labeled Texas barbecue sauce, or even a small packet of bluebonnet seeds.

Ma Maison provides the unique combination of Texas charm and Southern elegance in a setting perfect for your wedding day.  You can choose from sites such as the dramatic outdoor Green Cathedral to the magnificent indoor Great Hall.  Come visit our venue and see how we can make your Texas wedding dream come true.
