Although Kayla Dougherty and Stewart Crawford both grew up in Houston, they did not cross paths until mutual friends introduced them in October of 2011 after they graduated college. Dating, they enjoyed adventurous hikes and outdoor activities as well as exploring new restaurants and trying various foods together. Almost exactly three years later, Stewart proposed in October of 2014 at the Galatoire’s Restaurant in New Orleans. It was the Friday night before the LSU vs. Ole Miss football game. Once Stewart had popped the question, the two newly engaged couple walked down the famous Bourbon Street. To Kayla’s disbelief, Stewart continued with the surprises. The bride to be looked up and saw all their friends on a balcony of a bar waiting to celebrate the engagement! The celebratory weekend continued as Stewart won big at the casino and the LSU Tigers beat the Ole Miss Rebels. The couple had so much fun that they missed their flight home and had to rent a car and make the five-hour trek back to Houston. As the planning process began, Kayla and Stewart prolonged their engagement for a year and a half just to secure a date at Ma Maison for their wedding! For the perfect wedding, Kayla chose a romantic color palette of crisp white, lush green, blush pink and light gray.
On April 9th of 2016, Kayla and her nine bridesmaids got ready in the bridal suit, buzzing with excitement. Likewise, Stewart and his nine groomsmen prepared themselves for the big day. The time came for Kayla to walk down the aisle of The Grove. With 300 guests waiting patiently for the doors to open, Kayla, accompanied by her father, proceeded down the pathway. Stewart’s cousin, Michael Atmar, was the officiant for the ceremony making the day even more special. Kayla and Stewart exchanged vows and rings, sealing the marriage with a kiss. As the ceremony concluded, guests were ushered to the Trellis for cocktail hour with appetizers and signature cocktails.
Shortly after cocktail hour, the reception began in The Great Hall with much celebration. Greens and soft florals filled the farm tables inviting the guests inside. The large wedding party advanced into the reception hall space for dinner and dancing. Partying the night away, closest family and friends to Kayla and Stewart enjoyed spending one of the most important days with the newly married couple. The evening came to a close as the new Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Crawford pranced to their getaway car as sparkling sparklers surrounded them; ending a perfect wedding day for a perfect couple!
