While living in the same apartment complex at Texas Tech, Brent Hare and Kymberly Helton met through mutual friends. After college, the two lost touch, moved around but ultimately ending up back in Austin. Seven years later, Kym had recently begun attending Austin Stone Community Church where she saw Brent’s familiar face greeting people at the door. Not prepared for the moment to say ‘Hi’, Kym snuck in with a large group, avoiding eye contact with Brent. After a few days had passed, Kym did a little snooping on Facebook to make sure Brent was single before reaching out. Finding out that he was indeed single, Kym sent him a Facebook message saying that she saw him at church but did not get the chance to say and hoping that he is doing well. Quickly responding, Brent asked if Kym would like to catch up. On Sunday, February 22nd Brent took Kym on their first date.

While dating Kym and Brent enjoyed traveling, being actively involved in their church, and fun activities from TopGolf to bowling, as well as eating anywhere that has great queso. A special memory the two-love birds share is their second date. Brent had invited Kym over to his house for some homemade lasagna for dinner. Afterward, the couple headed to Rainy Street to watch a friend of Brent’s play in his band.  On the way home, Brent handed Kym his phone and said for Kym to pick a song that makes her the happiest. Kym flipped to “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston and they belted out the lyrics all the way home.

After a few years of dating, Brent was ready to pop the question. The two had always talked about hiking to the top of the 360 Bridge that overlooks Lake Travis and then eating at a little restaurant called the Ski Shores on the water but the plans had never worked out. On August 3rd Brent asked if Kym wanted to finally, make the hike to the bridge and grab a bite to eat at the restaurant that Wednesday.  On August 5th, Brent told Kym he would pick her up just before sunset and to wear comfy clothes because they would be hiking to the top of the hill. Just before dusk, Brent drove up in nicer clothes, not the hiking clothes Kym had on. As the two drove to the hill, they discussed their future together as their song was playing in the background. When they had made the climb to the top, Brent turned to Kym and said, “Change of plans, we’re not going to the Ski Shores tonight. I have different plans in mind for us.” He dropped down to one knee and asked Kym to marry him.  A friend of the couple’s was in the bushes documenting the proposal and did a little photo shoot of the newly engaged couple. After the beautiful moment, they headed to their favorite diner, Magnolia, where Brent had reserved a booth. As they entered the restaurant, the entire staff cheered for Brent and Kym.

With an eight-month engagement, the engaged couple had some wedding planning to do. Kym envisioned a romantic yet relaxed style for their wedding day. Shortly after choosing Ma Maison as their wedding venue, Kym selected navy, cream, and pops of green as her wedding colors to compliment The Green Cathedral, where the two would have their wedding ceremony.

April 8th had finally arrived as 200 of Kym and Brent’s closest family, and friends gathered to witness the two become one. The Green Cathedral filled with guests. Once Kym and Brent said “I Do” everyone made their way to The Trellis for cocktail hour to mingle. As cocktail hour ended, The Great Hall was bursting with excitement as the new Mr. and Mrs. Hare were to be announced for the first time. Following dinner, the newly married couple danced with their guests and enjoyed the night.  Bringing the evening to a close, the newly married couple departed with a sparkler sendoff, signifying the start to a sparkling marriage.
