Today we’re throwing it back to March 14, 2015 when Zach and Kara became Mr. and Mrs. Hogeda. Their love story started when they met at Baylor University and now they are happily married! Let’s take a sneak peek at their whimsical Spring wedding here at Ma Maison!
About Kara
“I was born in Austin, Tx and am currently 22 years old. I’ve grown up loving the outdoors – hiking, kayaking and playing soccer but I am also very skilled at the art of binge watching television shows on Netflix. I have also been on many mission trips to places such as Guyana, New Orleans, innercity Fort Worth and I hope to continue my volunteer work once Zach and I officially begin our lives in Dallas. I went to Baylor University and it was the best college experience I could have asked for. There’s so many wonderful things about Baylor, but the thing I love the most about Baylor is it brought me to Zach. We both had other college options and other interests for the future but our paths led us there and to each other and I’m forever grateful.”
About Zach
“Zach is 23 years old and was born in San Antonio, TX. Zach participated in football, baseball, soccer and track in high school and loved it all. His love for playing sports also applies to the many teams that he loves, such as the Red Sox, the Green Bay Packers and the Spurs. Lastly, I’d love to say that Zach loves me more than anything in this world but I’m not sure if that’s the truth considering he has another boy in his life…more specifically a dog…Pete. Zach got Pete as a puppy his sophomore year at Baylor when him and I became friends and he’s been a part of our friendship and relationship ever since, I can now officially call him “our dog” too which is a big step that Zach has now realized I’m here for good and Pete is OURS!”
How he proposed!
“After not seeing each other for a whole month I had plans to have brunch with my parents at the Cheesecake Factory and then drive to Waco to see Zach’s family and our dog Pete, and then continue on to Dallas to finally see Zach. My parents pulled over by a pond near the Cheesecake Factory and told me that they had seen some turtles here the other day and wanted to show me. Well, I love turtles so I was pumped and didn’t think anything of it. But as we walked down the hill I saw Zach standing across the pond with sunflowers everywhere and then I realized what was happening. All along the pond was 14 picture frames starting with our first picture we ever took together at my freshman Zeta Semi Formal to our last picture at my Baylor graduation with notes that explained why these moments were special to him. The last frame was empty and it said that this photo was for the day of the proposal, the day we start our lives together. Both of our families had driven down to be with us that day and after he proposed and gave me my beautiful ring we all spent the day together, having lunch, going to a winery and enjoying our time together as two families that will soon become one. I am so blessed by my family supporting me and loving me and Zach in this new chapter of our lives and I’m so blessed to be joining a family where I have felt at home and like I belonged the whole time.”
