Back in 2008, Chad and Rachel met while they were both attending Syracuse University. The two had both enrolled in a semester program in DC offered through Syracuse’s Maxwell School. In the pre-semester meeting, Rachel walked into the room and sat down right next to Chad. She introduced herself and told him that they were going to become great friends. After the DC semester, Rachel and Chad became very close and remained close while Chad studied abroad in London. The close friends pursued a relationship in their final semester at Syracuse. 

After dating for six years, Chad decided to make their relationship official by proposing.  The couple discussed marriage for some time in the course of their relationship. They even started wedding planning before they were engaged. While Chad had planned a few ways to propose, none of the ideas materialized for a few reasons. Chad finally proposed in September of 2015 at their home in Connecticut in front of a display of items that he had saved over the course of their relationship. 
 

With an intimate number of family and friends to witness their marriage, the two tied the knot at Ma Maison’s Lake View ceremony site. On Saturday, September 3rd of 2016,  six groomsmen and six bridesmaids by their side as Rachel and Chad became Mr. and Mrs. The planning couple chose a soft color palette of purple and silver.

With cocktail hour on the Trellis and the reception in The Great Hall, the couple enjoyed a night with their guests creating everlasting memories. 

Rachel had this advice to offer to wedding planning couples, “Be prepared for drama, prepared for hiccups, and prepared for a whirlwind experience. Start planning early and don’t stop. But most of all…..never let anything get between you as a couple and let it make your bond stronger.” 

Mr. and Mrs. Brooker did not plan a honeymoon immediately after the wedding but is planning a trip to South Africa or Asia for this upcoming year.
