Take a Look at Advice for Selecting Your Wedding Ceremony Officiant

In fact, you shouldn’t base your big day around superstitions! As this is your once in a lifetime experience, and you should create it to be however you like.

Are you aware of the top wedding superstitions that can be ignored? If not, you are in luck! As here at Ma Maison, as an Austin wedding venue, we have gathered them for you. So, if you are all set to gain some great insight, be sure to continue reading:

  • No Peeking. It is said that the bride and groom should not see each other on the wedding day prior to the ceremony. This superstition came about decades ago, as the groom wasn’t to see the bride before the wedding ceremony, so that he didn’t have the chance to change his mind and run. While this isn’t how it is in today’s world, couples still take part in this tradition as it builds excitement and anticipation.
  • Don’t Marry on That Day! It is said that you shouldn’t host your wedding on Saturday, as according to English folklore, it is the unluckiest day of the week. In addition, it is said that if you marry in the month of May, “you’ll surely rue the day”, as the festival for the dead was hosted in May decades ago by the Romans. And last, it is said to avoid tying the knot on the 13th of the month, as this number is considered to be unlucky. Don’t attempt to put your wedding on halt because of these superstitions! As surely, couples have been saying “I do” no problem on these days.
  • Forgo Yellow Blooms. Flowers will most likely be the main element of décor for your wedding. However, during the Victorian era, yellow flowers were said to symbolize jealousy, and were highly frowned upon to be utilized throughout weddings, as it was said it would put a curse on the marriage. However, yellow flowers have been used throughout weddings since, and marriages haven’t been doomed by the bloom.

You shouldn’t avoid creating your wedding how you would like it to be based off of superstitions! These are just a few that you can ignore when it comes to your own big day.
