Angela’s aunt, Pauline, and Waj worked together in Chicago. Pauline knew Waj was a great guy and that he was single, so she mentioned that Waj should reach out to her niece, Angela. He took Pauline’s advice and got in touch with her. The two met in New York, Waj made the drive from Boston while Angela was visiting PhD programs in the city. What they thought was going to be a quick drink turned into a four-hour date! Before the two parted ways, Waj asked Angela if he could visit her in her hometown of Austin. She said yes, and after the Austin visit, the two knew that they had something special, so they committed to a long distance relationship for the time being. Once Angela moved to New York to start her PhD at Columbia, Waj began searching for a new job in NYC and soon found one. After a year of dating, Waj popped the question.

Around Christmas time, Waj hung the jewelry box on the Christmas tree in Angela’s family home and tricked her into opening it. Waj was already down on one knee, but Angela didn’t even notice!

The now engaged couple waited for almost three before saying their “I Do’s.” The two wanted to ensure that they could have an easy transition and settle in Austin where Angela’s family and Waj’sbrother’s family now lives.
