Wedding Bells: How to Plan an Intimate Wedding at an Austin Wedding Venue

Did you know that the average American wedding has 167 guests? It’s your special day, so for many brides, the more, the merrier for them!

But maybe you’d prefer a more intimate wedding, surrounded by your closest loved ones. Not only can you save money, but you can also have just those who really count be there for you.

Does this sound like you but you aren’t quite sure how to execute your intimate day? Not to worry! We’ll be more than happy to help you put together the small wedding of your dreams at an Austin wedding venue. Read on for some great intimate wedding tips!

Plan Early

Whether you’re having 5, 50, or 500 guests, the best advice we can give you is to plan early! All the best venues will be booked out to a year in advance, so you’ll want to get a head start as soon as you can.

We recommend putting together a rough guest list first and then you can consider your venue! If you have a set number of guests in mind, jotting down all potential guests can help you whittle it down months or even a year in advance. This can help you narrow down which venues are right for you and your number of guests.

For instance, maybe you’re inviting Memaw and a few other elderly relatives. In that case, you’ll want to pick a space that’s gorgeous but can account for their limited mobility. That way, they can fully enjoy your big day with little difficulty.

When you plan and book early, you can also avoid the large crowds that come for certain events in Austin, such as festivals like South by Southwest or Austin City Limits. Your guests will certainly be thankful when they don’t have to pay exorbitant prices for plane tickets and hotel rooms.

Visit Potential Venues

It’s already terribly difficult to get down the right venue size for large weddings. When you shrink down your guest list, it can understandably become quite a bit of a headache to seek out the perfect matrimonial space. Factor in a limited budget and it can be even more frazzling.

Our humble opinion is that you do in-person visits for all the potential venues you have in mind. Pictures won’t do a space justice, so it’s best if you go experience it for yourself.

With too big a venue, it can seem like you have missing guests. But truth be told, there are some venues that are too small, even for an intimate wedding.

This is why it’s great to visit in person. You can then get a feel for each venue and maybe cross off those you feel won’t suit your ceremony.

Feel Free to Add Your Own Touches

Many wedding venues are more than happy to help you put together custom wedding packages so your day is truly unique. This can be a huge weight off your shoulders, as you won’t have to worry about arranging for decor and the likes.

However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still put your own touch on things! The very beauty of having an intimate wedding is the ease of which you can add a personal twist to things.

For example, when you have under 50 guests for your ceremony and reception, this means you can carefully personalize certain aspects, such as wedding favors. Put in some of Aunt Jane’s favorite sweets in hers, while you sneak in some homemade brownies for Memaw.

An intimate wedding means you can focus more on each of your guests, which they’ll be pleased as punch about!
