Mario and Shelby first met in the 5th grade when Shelby moved to the same elementary school Mario was attending. The two began dating in 7th grade all the way through high school and college. After eleven years, it was time to get married!

Mario proposed in January of 2016 and made sure to ask Shelby’s father and brother’s permission. With the help of Shelby’s brother, Mario surprised Shelby at their family Christmas.

With a little less than a year to plan, the two newly engaged got right down to it. With wedding colors of marsala and blush, Shelby was looking for a glamorous style with plenty of greenery.

The Green Cathedral was set on the wedding day with 150 seats waiting for friends and family to arrive. Followed by the ceremony, guests made their way to the Trellis for cocktail hour. Dinner and dancing was located in the Great Hall. Instead of a traditional sparkler exit, Shelby and Mario ran through popping confetti!

The day after the wedding, the new Mr. and Mrs. Gaitan left for a week on a cruise to Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel.

Here is some wedding planning advice right from Shelby, “Just enjoy it! Planning a wedding is or can be super stressful, just try to take a breath and enjoy it all. Have fun going and seeing venues, trying out cake samples, looking at flower arrangements, and planning a honeymoon. It comes so much quicker than you can ever imagine!”
