While it was not love at first sight, Kenny and Rachel met in “The Big Apple”. Rachel was staying with a friend after a fun night out on the town while Kenny was visiting a high school friend’s apartment. After asking for Kenny’s number and calling him Harry, the phone rang and Kenny asked Rachel out three weeks later.

Rachel had this to say about the engagement she thought was not going to happen, “Kenny and I were planning on moving from NYC to San Francisco for his new job. I was always very stubborn about us moving in together with a formal commitment/engagement. Call me old fashion but I wanted to know that we were both committed before sharing our home together. Anyways, he had told me that with the move he had no time/money to get the ring and ask permission but that he had the full intent to ask for my hand in marriage. So, we packed up my apartment in the city and headed to Long Island for our last weekend with friends and his family in NY before we headed west. The next day we had planned on going on a hike to the place we took our 1st hiking together. When we came across the pond I noticed all along the dock there was flowers and balloons lining the entire way down. I even said, how cute someone must be having a birthday party! As we get to the center of the dock there was a little alcove. There in block letters he had written out “Will You Marry Me”. In that moment I still didn’t get that this was for me. I remember thinking, oh how cute!! Someone is going to be very happy!!! I looked back to relay my internal thoughts to him and that is when I saw it in his eyes. This note wasn’t for someone else, it was for me. His hands were shaking and my words were escaping me. We sort of stood there in shock for a couple seconds. I then asked him…”Are you going to get down on one knee?” He did. Then I asked him, “Do you have a ring?” He did and pulled it out of his pocked. He was trembling so much all he could get out was So will ya?” I grabbed him around neck and said, “YES!”.

They couple wanted a cozy and elegant style and chose a natural color pallet of fresh white and greenery. With 125 guests gathered at The Grove, the ceremony began at 5:30pm on April 22nd, 2017. The best man, John, performed the ceremony. Once the hour had finished, guests made their way to the Great Hall for a family style dinner and dancing. During the first band break, the new Mr. and Mrs. cut a four-tiered naked funfetti wedding cake! The Inside Out Band was rocking the night away until the night needed to end. Guests parted with a breakfast taco and a sparkler to wish the couple a wonderful send off! For future brides, Rachel had this advice to offer. “So Save The Dates. A planner is worth every penny! Even though this is supposed to be your wedding…it will never be just about you. Learn to say yes…as long as it works within the budget. Things will go wrong. It is flat out inevitable. Just know it will all work out.”
